They are meant to be recognition for a job well done but they are even more valuable as a glimpse into the future. Yesterday’s success is tomorrows skill set in demand.

A few tales from Ramallah:
The dangerous qanun and the intoxication of power
We leave the taxi at Qalandia checkpoint and for 50 shekels grab a ride in the back of a truck with Israeli license plates. The truck doors advertise flooring and construction, three scruffy men sit in the front seat, and soon we are staring through dusty windows at the imposing separation wall, massive amounts of construction and garbage, new cream white apartment and Office Buildings, and a disarray of ...

DNA clears Texas man who spent 30 years in prison
DNA test results that came back barely a week after Cornelius Dupree Jr. was paroled in July excluded him as the person who attacked a Dallas woman in 1979, prosecutors said Monday. Dupree was just 20 when he was sentenced to 75 years in Prison in 1980. Now 51, he has spent more time wrongly imprisoned than any DNA exoneree in Texas, which has freed 41 wrongly convicted inmates through DNA since 2001 — more than any other state. "Our Conviction Integrity Unit thoroughly reinvestigated this...
B.C.'s wacky leadership races
NDP leadership Candidate Dana Larsen is seen here holding Marijuana at The Dispensary on East Hastings. While the rest of Canada may have slowed down for the Christmas break, with two leadership races under way on the left coast, the wackiness continued as per usual in Supernatural British Columbia. * We’ll start with the BC NDP and the “race” to replace Carole James. Potential candidates were slow to surface, until finally someone put their name forward, and it’s a famil...
Internet Gains on Television as Public's Main News Source
The Internet is slowly closing in on television as Americans’ main source of national and international news. Television remains the most widely used source for national and international news – 66% of Americans say it is their main source of news – but that is down from 74% three years ago and 82%...
Mark Schwartz: The Sudden Bachelor Part 1- The Supermarket
You see that guy? The one making his way down the Supermarket aisle, picking up cans and putting them back, eying things like mops and pots and pans, holding them as if to weigh them, like an ape holding rocks, putting them down. You rightly surmise that he is a sudden bachelor.
You craned your neck as you passed him in the aisle, as if going past a car wreck. You noticed he could use a shave and his shirt was mis-buttoned so one tail hung lower than the other. That dull, scared look in his e...

While the traditional media and the United States government continue to fixate on the individual Julian Assange, a not so subtle cultural shift is taking root worldwide: Hacktivist culture is rapidly morphing from a small underground subculture into mainstream culture for a younger generation, not just in the United States, but worldwide. Julian Assange and Wikileaks did not start this cultural movement, but they have served as a catalyst for its robust growth and worldwide propagation. And w...

Brett King: Banks Still Don't Get Mobile, But Neither Do Researchers...
I read with interest a post pointed out to me by @JenRBoyd posted on Mobile Commerce Daily highlighting a recent Celent report comparing US and EU investment in multi-channel. The problem here is that the conclusions of the report are correct, but even the report itself suffers from an old-school view of the banking arena, that is, we are still asking the wrong questions:
The Generational Gap in Management
If you've read my previous posts, you'll know that I'm particularly critical of the bra...
