No Labels is Really About No Hate
Writing in the Boston Globe, Cathy Young defends “No Labels” from the right and the left:
Inevitably, critics on the right see No Labels as a liberal plot to stifle robust conservative Speech and force Republicans to Compromise with Democrats rather than take advantage of the GOP’s recent electoral victories. At the same time, critics on the left denounce the group as a conservative Trojan Horse designed to trick liberals into abandoning their principles.

South Africa's giant bonking bullfrogs go bedhopping
Yet their breeding grounds are being wiped out by man, writes Robyn Dixon. GLEN AUSTIN, South Africa: It's a lucky day for amphibian enthusiasts at Glen Austin wetlands: the giant bullfrogs of southern Africa are having sex. The mating ritual occurs just one day a year, after the first downpour of the southern summer. The shallows of the wetlands north of Johannesburg become a splashing commotion as bullfrogs attack and toss each other about like wrestling stars. The giant bullfrog is like Kerm...

Crazy Like A Fox
The 2010 Elections produced two contradictory historical novelties in Minnesota. For the first time in 24 years, Democrats captured the Governor’s mansion. And for the first time in the entire 40 years that Minnesota has had a partisan legislature, Republicans captured control of both houses.
The new governor, Mark Dayton, enjoyed brief infamy in 2004 when he abruptly shut down his Senate office in response to a Terrorist Threat that no one else in the government had heard of. Combi

GOP votes down rule thatd prioritize budget over social issues
WASHINGTON — The debate held Monday among the Candidates for the chairmanship of the Republican National Committee was like an egg cream — the literal meaning isn’t the same as its contents. With one exception, current RNC Chairman Michael Steele and his challengers — former Michigan GOP Chair Saul Anuzis, former Bush Administration official Maria Cino, Wisconsin Republican Party Chair Reince Priebus, and former Missouri Republican Party Chairwoman Ann Wagner — avoi...
The Growing Social Security and Medicare Problem
It’s the beginning of a New Year, meaning crowded gyms, commercial breaks filled with weight-loss ads, and a glass-half-full attitude about the upcoming year. That glass half full should be just enough to dissolve my Alka Seltzer, because all this positivity is enough to give me heartburn.
You’ll have to pardon my less than cheery spirits. I am, after all, in the minority amongst my generation, who happen to be the most optimistic age group when it comes to our financial circumstan...
