New York Post Slams Vacationing Obama On Front Page For Looking Like Hes On Vacation
The front page of the conservative New York Post features a photo of President Obama with the headline, “Should the Leader of the Free World dress like this-even on Vacation? Inside, it’s “Bam first flip-flop president” because of his footwear. Historians are quoted about “seeing the president’s toes,” although few except the headline writers at the Post seem to think its Scandalous. (sandalous?) George W. Bush has dresses similarly, sans open-toed...

The lady Dole train left the station in 2008, these are Palin days." Jay Leno is surprised Pres. Today's Must See Moment -- Fast forward to 0:45 to see Wagner's "grizzly" makeover. Take our Late Night Poll af...
As Limbaugh Eats Himself
Ticked that the NFL canceled a football game during the East Coast blizzard, Rush vents:
All I could think about was the Donner Party. You know the story of the Donner Party. A bunch of pioneers heading out to California got trapped in a blizzard in the Sierra Nevada mountain range out there near Lake Tahoe and they couldn't get to Harrah's, and they couldn't get to any of the casinos. It was bad. They resorted to Cannibalism to stay alive. If you...
John Boehner, House GOP Prime For Fight With Obama
WASHINGTON — Ascending to speaker of the House, Rep. John Boehner is ready to take the gavel from Democrat Nancy Pelosi, vowing to "give government back to the people" and bring an end to congressional gridlock.
"The American People have humbled us. They have refreshed our memories as to just how temporary the privilege to serve is," Boehner says in remarks prepared for his installation later Wednesday as the new speaker. "This is their Congress. It's about them, not us."

United States President Barack Obama's move on December 31, bypassing the Senate while vacationing in Hawaii
Barack Obama Thinks Maybe Bipartisanship Might Be a Good Thing
Oh man! Get a load of this…
President Obama, returning to Washington from his Christmas Vacation in Hawaii, urged House and Senate GOP leaders to put partisan politics aside in the name of working to boost The Economy…
"And that our job this year is to make sure that we build on recovery," he added. "We started making good progress on that in the lame-duck, and I expect to build on that progress when I get back."
Well, of course he'd urge the Senate and Hou...
White House Press Secretary Gibbs Announces His Departure
Some major changes are in store for the White House Briefing Room and President Obama’s innermost team. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs announced his departure to Staffers on Wednesday morning. The move comes on the president’s first full day in back in the office from his Hawaii holiday Vacation. Rumors brewed for months about an impending Gibbs departure from the White House. Observers noted the sometimes testy relationship between the press secretary and the m...
Obama considers J.P. Morgan's Daley as senior aide
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama is considering tapping J.P. Morgan Chase executive William Daley for a senior role within the White House, possibly Chief of Staff, a person familiar with the matter said on Monday.
Daley is also a former commerce secretary. If he is chosen, the move would help satisfy a clamor within the business community to have greater representation in the administration.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, cautioned that no decision had been made. ...
Obama's gall
We've chronicled what it is that Obama is doing to the Oil Industry and how those policies are doing great harm to the employment picture in this country. Obama urges Republicans to help him revive economy President Barack Obama appealed to Republican congressional leaders on Tuesday to put politics aside and work to revive the U.S. economy. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on his way back to Washington from a Vacation in Hawaii, Obama said "we've started to make go...
Barack Obama Photographed in Flip Flops; More Time for Tax Returns This Year; Olek's Yarn Exhibit Is Back
via NYP/Reuters
• The most important news of the day: Barack Obama HAS BEEN PHOTOGRAPHED IN FLIP FLOPS. The New York Post writes, "Historians agreed it was the first time they could remember seeing the Leader of the Free World snapped in a public setting, wearing nothing more than a flimsy strip of rubber on his feet." He was, however, also wearing clothes, including shorts and a shirt. And he was in Hawaii. Meanwhile, this may be less momentous than historians think. Here's a shot o...

Boehner, Pelosi, Haley, Ryan, and Others to Watch in 2011
We've ended a fascinating year in politics, and 2011 promises to be just as good. Here's who to watch in the coming year:

David Plouffe. He managed the 2008 Obama campaign and is heading to Washington to take the job of David Axelrod, the White House adviser leaving for Chicago to start up the 2012 re-election campaign. Harry Wilson: I Lost Because 'People Didn't Pay Attention'
Among the 2,200 people—by their count—in the audience for today's State of the State Address was Harry Wilson, the failed Republican Candidate for state Comptroller.
Wilson, you may recall, was widely viewed as the G.O.P. best chance to win a statewide race since 2002. He had a glittering resume that included being called upon by Barack Obama to help rescue the Auto Industry, he had a tons of cash from his career in finance, and he had all of the editorial boards who lavished prais...
Sick As A Dog
So, my glorious week long Christmas Vacation is over and....I am sick as a freaking dog. Actually, I'm not entirely sure where that expression came from because I don't recall my dog ever being this sick. This is a particularly lousy time to be sick, not just because I am coming off a long Vacation and have lots of work to do and new plans to implement, but because I was supposed to be hobnobbing with incoming congresscritters at a reception in DC on Wed. Unfortunately, that looks like it's a n...
After the holiday, returning to car pool unprepared for gloomy radio news
It was the first carpool pickup of the new year, a return to routine and old habits. Like many of us getting back into the swing of regular life after a break, the woman in the driver's seat still had a bit of holiday lightness about her. It hadn't been the world's greatest Christmas, but she'd enjoyed two weeks with her family and had especially relished not spending so much time in the car. Still, here she was, back in her role as chauffeur, and so, out of long practice, she flicked the radio ...
All work and no play
Presidentin' is hard
You may recall my recent post about Obama’s work habits:
The president’s “biggest regret” was that because of economic turmoil, “He had to spend almost every waking hour in Washington working on solving that crisis,” senior adviser Valerie Jarrett said during an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday. “And what he missed sorely was engagement with the American People.

Ogilvy hurts finger before PGA opener
KAPALUA, Hawaii, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Defending Tournament of Champions titlist Geoff Ogilvy injured his finger in Hawaii Wednesday, a day before the start of the PGA's season-opening event. PGA officials told Golf Digest Ogilvy hurt his right index finger in a swimming accident. The wound required 12 stitches to close and caused him to miss Wednesday's Pro-Am event. Ogilvy, however, hadn't withdrawn by Wednesday afternoon. He needs only to tee off starting Thursday's first round before withdrawing t...
Taxpayers Finance Pelosis Lavish Hawaiian Farewell
Reminiscent of the Scandal in which she used Military Aircraft as her personal taxi, Nancy Pelosi stuck it to U.S. Taxpayers on her way out as House Speaker with a lavish Hawaiian Vacation featuring secret service and local police Motorcades financed by Americans.
The famously corrupt California congresswoman spent her last days as Speaker at an ex...
Ogilvy eyes No.3 at happy hunting ground
It's no coincidence that Australian golfers Geoff Ogilvy and Stuart Appleby have won the US PGA Tour's season-opening tournament in Hawaii five of the past seven years. They are both long but not always straight hitters on a windswept Kapalua Plantation course on Maui that offers plenty of room off the tee and punishes only the most wayward of shots. "There are a lot of holes where you just hit it as hard as you can and have a little bit of concern where it goes but a lot less than usual," said ...
And So It Has Come To Demon Pass
Possibly my favorite news of the new Congress has been that its Budget approach will revolve around "deem and pass." This is a parliamentary maneuver in which the House deems a piece of Legislation to have been passed by rule:
Because Democrats didn't pass a budget, and because spending authority expires in early March, there's a strong chance that the government will run out of money before the House and Senate agree to new spending levels. When that happens, under the new House rule...
Republicans change the House rules
Washington (CNN) - How a bill becomes a law is the educational building block of every American civics class. But as House Republicans take control of the House today, they will shift, ever so slightly, that civics lesson. First, all bills and joint resolutions submitted for approval will be required to have an accompanying statement explaining their Constitutional Authority. Republicans and the members of the Tea Party have argued that Democrats regularly overreached the Constitutional powers ...
Paul Ryan: 'I'm Not Talking About' Debt Issues Today
Paul Ryan may be the new Budget guru in the House, but today he seems more interested in basking in GOP victory than talking about the tough Legislation ahead.
In a gaggle with reporters just now, Ryan was asked if "in a couple months" he could envision the new majority in the House voting to raise the Debt ceiling.
"I'm not talking about that stuff today," Ryan said as he walked out of the Speaker's lobby behind the podium that is now Boehner's to control.

Rep. Ryan says Priebus is 'front-runner' in RNC race
Rep. Paul Ryan has been vigorously working the phones on behalf of Wisconsin GOP Chairman Reince Priebus' bid for the chairmanship of the Republican National Committee.
Ryan called Priebus the "front-runner" in the five-person field vying to the lead the party through the 2012 Campaign cycle.
"I've talked to a decent amount of folks, probably a dozen or so," the Wisconsin Republican told The Ballot Box.
The 168 members of the RNC will vote Jan. 14 on a new chairman. "I think he's got a good...
