I am sick as a freaking dog.
VIDEOS: Christmas in videos
Actually, I'm not entirely sure where that expression came from because I don't recall my dog ever being this sick. This is a particularly lousy time to be sick, not just because I am coming off a long Vacation and have lots of work to do and new plans to implement, but because I was supposed to be hobnobbing with incoming congresscritters at a reception in DC on Wed. Unfortunately, that looks like it's a n...
Is Anarchy the Next In Thing?
Instapundit linked to a piece by Richard Fernandez called “The Crusade of the Innocents.” It’s all about Anarchists. You know, those useful idiots who can’t make a name for themselves, so they suck off the fruits of others while trying to make sure the gravy train never ends. They have no goals, other than the next score. They’re hearts are filled with jealousy and rage. I have to say, I’m with Moe Lane, these people are not innocents.
I happen to be related...
QuickBooks Onlines Clock is Mercilessly Mocking Me!
Oh, the joys of running a Small Business. I do the books for Mr. LC’s home remodeling company. I went from using QuickBooks on my computer to QuickBooks online so I can access QB from anywhere; or if we need help with the bookkeeping, using the online version will make it a lot easier. Except when it doesn’t!
I’m bound and determined to bring the books up to date, since it is the first of the year and we have to remain compliant with Uncle Sam and pay what they say we owe. Ev...
Statists Have To Be Cruel To Be Kind
She'll hit you over the head with that gavel, but really, it's for your own good.
Remember the song “Cruel to Be Kind” by Nick Lowe? It ought to be the progressive theme song. It seems that everything they do, every policy they enact, involves being cruel to one to be kind to another.
I do my best to understand dear
But you still mystify and i want to know why
I pick myself up off the ground
To have you knock me back down again and again
And when i ask you to explain well y...
Presidents Living on the Edge on Vacations
Vacations are a time for people and presidents to unwind, relax and if you're President Obama play some golf and snorkel in Hawaii. But, there's at least one activity President Obama won't be doing - body surfing at Sandy Beach. It's famous for huge waves and massive undertow and even if the president was photographed body surfing in 2008 before taking office, he hasn't been back. We talked to a couple of locals who explained the treacherous waters at Sandy Beach. Make sure to check out the full...
Obamas End Hawaii Vacation at the Beach
(Wall Street Journal) - President Barack Obama and his family were trying to soak it all in Monday, spending the better part of their final day in Hawaii at Pyramid Rock Beach on Marine Corps Base Hawaii. If the final day of a Vacation defines how it will be remembered, the Obamas will be packing memories of teal-colored water, soft breezes and plenty of sunshine, The Wall Street Journal reported. Their Vacation is a far cry from their year-ago trip to picturesque Oahu, when the attempted bombin...
The lightening round
Yes she can, all five Candidates agreed during the lightening round of questioning at the RNC chairman debate. During this round, Candidates were asked quick fire questions with little time to explain answers. As the questions went on, some of the Candidates became more candid with their responses. Saul Anuzis said that the one thing he agreed with that Obama did was go on Vacation. Maria Cino , Michael Steele , and Reince Priebus said none. Wagner's response came to claps and laughs. "I may su...
All work and no play
Presidentin' is hard
You may recall my recent post about Obama’s work habits:
The president’s “biggest regret” was that because of economic turmoil, “He had to spend almost every waking hour in Washington working on solving that crisis,” senior adviser Valerie Jarrett said during an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday. “And what he missed sorely was engagement with the American People.
Byron York:
But it turns out Obama has already

Obamas Emerge From Vacation Seclusion For Shave Ice Outing (PHOTOS)
The big news out of Hawaii since the Obamas arrived is that there really hasn't been any.
Michelle, Sasha and Malia flew over on Saturday, December 18th while the president wrapped up business in Washington. Bo did a quick detour in quarantine at the airport. And other than a few public outings, many of which weren't photographed--to the Marine Corps Base on Christmas Day, church, shave ice for the president and his daughters, snorkeling and a whole lot of golf--the first family has been layi...

Early fireworks likely in the new Congress
Posted by Paul at 9:30 PM
The 112th Congress will convene on Wednesday and, as the Washington Times observes, it won't be long before the Fireworks begin. In February, Congress will either pass a massive spending bill or see the fedearl government shut down. And in March, Congress will either raise the Debt ceiling or see the government go into default.
Actually, it may not be quite as stark as that. Congress can perhaps buy time by passing temporary extensions of the Budget and a higher Debt c...
Wash. Times Responds To DADT Repeal With Unhinged Anti-Gay Rhetoric
Wash. Times Responds To DADT Repeal With Anti-Gay Rhetoric
Kuhner: DADT Repeal "An Act Of National Suicide." In a December 30 op-ed, Jeffrey Kuhner called the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell "an act of national suicide " :
Mr. Obama - again with GOP help - succeeded in getting "don't ask, don't tell" (DADT) repealed, enabling Homosexuals to serve openly in the Military. This is one of the most revolutionary and damaging acts ever done to a core American institution. It will decimate the great...
Coming spike in gas prices
Image via Wikipedia
Washington Times:
Oil and Gasoline prices have risen to their highest levels in two years, and analysts say prices could shoot up dramatically this year as the thirst for fuel grows in the U.S. and around the world.
The former head of Shell Oil has warned that Gas Prices could hit $5 a gallon by 2012 because of fast-growing demand in emerging countries such as China and India, where more and more people are buying cars, combined with restraints on drilling in the U.S. in th...

"He's got his problems, but so does everybody else," Mr. Graham said on NBC's "Meet the Press."
Mr. Romney, a former Massachusetts Governor and GOP presidential Candidate, is among the most conservative of potential GOP candidates. However, as Governor he signed into law a Public Health care plan, and he recently drew criticism for opposing...
Excrescence Of The Day
Maybe it is the memory of June 2009 that remains with me, but this simple sentence in the Washington Times (regardless of the broader argument) turned my stomach:
The Iranians have not shown the will to unseat the regime.
How many neocons have lost their lives on the streets of their own capital and been tortured in the cells of their own government?
...
Kaine: No serious primary challenger for Obama in 2012
Tim Kaine, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, said Sunday he doesn't expect President Obama will face a serious primary challenger in 2012.
"It's very unlikely," he said on CNN's "State of the Union. "You'll always get a fringe Candidate, but the likelihood of a serious candidate is virtually nil."
Mr. Kaine said the president and fellow Democrats must continue to do the job Americans elected them to do to win next year.
"We feel very good going into the 2012 cycle," he said.
Mr. Kai...

Gas bag Bill O’Reilly to Mary Katharine Ham: ‘as a conservative, you’re ok with people dying”
It’s a new year for the gas bag Bill O’Reilly, but it’s the same arrogant, snotty, attacking of Conservatives and sucking up to progressive Liberal Democrats. The start of the show debuted some new music, after O’Reilly’s two week Vacation. The first interview was with Congressman Peter King of New York, a Republican. O’Reilly was his usual arrogan
A Daley for the Obama White House?
Former Clinton Commerce Secretary William Daley – a scion of Chicago’s powerful political dynasty — is being considered for a top slot in the Obama Administration, perhaps White House Chief of Staff, according to two people familiar with the situation.
But the sources emphasized that Daley, 62, hasn’t been offered any particular administration post – and may, in fact, not be asked to come on board.
