Wayne Furniture Store Explodes, Trapping Three Inside


Explosion : A family-owned furniture store in suburban Detroit
exploded and collapsed
Wednesday, trapping three people inside.

The Explosion is believed to have been triggered by a Natural Gas Explosion.
The store's owner, Paul Franks, has been pulled from the rubble, and is in critical condition, according to Wayne City Manager John Zech.

Search and rescue teams continue to search for the other two missing people, who are assumed to be store employees " a secretary and a salesman. Wayne Deputy Fire Chief Marshall Shawn Dell reported that rescuers were calling the cell phones of the people trapped inside, in the hopes of locating them faster, but that these efforts were not proving fruitful.
A deputy Police Chief from the nearby town of Inkster, Hilton Napoleon, who was assisting other officers in the efforts said rescuers need to be careful in the below-freezing conditions. Napoleon said that, because of the large amount of debris, "they've got to be careful so they don't cause any more Explosions. You don't know if there are any other flammables in there."
Police evacuated homes and businesses near the site, in case of further Explosions.
