Facebook : Another week, another episode of Toddlers & Tiaras, and another horrifying act of child cruelty.

While there were no cone bras this time, there was an absolutely terrified five-year-old whose mother forced her to get her eyebrows waxed.

Honestly, this video is actually quite difficult to watch. While it’s absolutely understandable that a child wouldn’t want hot wax poured onto her face and then ripped off by an uber-coiffed salon worker, in this case, the young girl had actually...
'Toddlers & Tiaras' Mom Forces 5-Year-Old To Get Eyebrow Wax (VIDEO)
We've always been too terrified to tune into TLC's "Toddlers & Tiaras" and the following clip is a perfect illustration as to why.
On a recent episode, a pageant mother forces her wailing and trembling five-year-old daughter to get her eyebrows waxed, even though the little girl was clearly traumatized from once having her skin ripped off during the beauty procedure.
To be honest, this video just makes us love our moms even more.

Kennedy Follow-Up
Last week, I reported that a Kennedy miniseries had been nixed. Now it seems the plot has thickened:
"America's most iconic political dynasty is at the centre of a Censorship Scandal after a TV network suddenly dropped a multi-million dollar series giving a warts-and-all look at the lives of the Kennedy clan.
Those behind the project believe members of the family "bullied" The History Channel into axing The Kennedys after objecting to the way the drama portrayed the private life and sexual esc...
Ticket pic of the week: Hey, pandas need to play too
No, they don't just sit around all the time chewing on bamboo.
All right, we admit it. We're a sucker for bears, especially teddy bears. Or lookalike teddy bears.
These guys are romping in the snow in China.

Weekender thread for the coffeehouse: pizza critics unite
This was a popular thread on my Facebook page when I posted that I had Tweeted around the horrors of the products produced at chain pizza places and frozen "food" marketed as pizzas.
The discussion didn't involve the politics of chains (such as Dominos), the focus was on the levels of pizza sucktitude (taste). It's assumed that you can make better pizza on your own, or find it at a local joint.
Of course there are cities where it's hard to find a good slice. One commenter on Facebook said he...
Obama calls for spirit of bipartisanship (AFP)
WASHINGTON (AFP) – US President Barack Obama urged members of both major US political parties Saturday to overcome their differences and work in "the spirit of common cause" for the good of the country.
"So as business resumes, I look forward to working together in that same spirit of common cause with members of Congress from both parties -- because before we are Democrats or Republicans, we are Americans," Obama said in his weekly radio address.
The remarks came aft...
Tweet Of The Day - Peter LaBarbera
And I have repeatedly tweeted Porno Pete, calling on him to denounce his BFF Scott Lively for hiring a convicted child molester to work with school Children. Lively has been the subject of numerous praising posts on LaBarbera's site and the two have appeared together at an event held by the SPLC-certified hate group, MassResistance. Last year, MassResistance endorsed Scott Lively as a write-candidate for Governor of Massachusetts, but they too have yet to comment about the arrest at Lively's c...
Coolest Snowboarding Trick Ever (VIDEO)
The folks at Neatorama stumbled upon a video of quite possibly the coolest snowboarding trick ever attempted. Upon first glance, it seems our hero may flail in the air and fall, but he sneakily delivers an unexpected and dazzling finish. No fancy Flying Tomato twists and twirls and triple-flips, just ten seconds of pure and simple snow-topped brilliance.

Still Fighting Against Own Cause
Politico.com:
Mississippi seceded from the Union 150 years ago this week (Jan. 9). But the intermittent, sometimes bitter, argument over whether the Civil War was "about Slavery" again is the focus of public debate.

Weekly remarks: Both Republican Jeff Flake and Obama take heart in Tucson spirit and heroes
Weekly remarks by Rep. Jeff Flake, as provided by Republican Party leadership
Hello, I’m Jeff Flake, and I represent the people of Arizona’s 6th Congressional District.
Last week's horrific attack in Tucson is a stark reminder of the senseless brutality of which some are capable; the selfless Bravery with which true heroes respond; and the enduring need for leaders who will uphold their oaths and listen to their constituents.
My heart goes out to the family of my friend and colleague,...

Two Oldies But Goodies
FHQ has spent a fair amount of time this week talking about the introduction of several state legislative bills that would shift the dates on which those states' presidential primaries would be held (California, Virginia and one to eliminate the presidential primary in Washington for 2012). In a look back over active Legislation with similar goals, we ran across a couple of bills in New Jersey that were introduced this time a year ago that should be included in our left sidebar "Presidential P...
David Frum Is Having A Bad New Media Day
h/t Instapundit. In case you haven't noticed, David Frum had his ass kicked on Twitter by Andrew Breitbart, on a blog at PJM's new Tatler by Roger Simon and now Mark Levin's Facebook page today. Ever the word smith, Frum seems to be single-handedly inserting the word disease into Social Media! How long before Frum labels them an axis of evil, as he's been known to do?
But I must confess, I am crushed that Frum, with his over...

I would have to submit that Vince McCrudden is probably not the guy I would trust to have the judgment necessary for running my Hedge Fund. Vincent McCrudden, a mad-as-hell hedge fund manager from Long Island, was arrested last night for threatening to kill 47 officials from the Securities and Exchange Commission, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, and Commodity Futures Trading Commission. McCrudden runs a very small hedge fund called Alnbri Management, based in Melville, N.Y. He's got som...
Live-Blogging the Trial of Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff, Part Two
The Tundra Tabloids hears from Elisabeth that both she and her lawyer are more than ready and willing to prove the truthfulness of everything spoken at the seminars, underlining that this is about the right to tell the truth without fear of legal punishment. For telling the truth can never be illegal in a free society, and the truth should always be the foundation for the defense and the aim for any court proceeding. As was the case last time, the TT will be providing up-to-date details and high...

World leaders have responded to the unrest in Tunisia, that has led to the end of president Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali's 23-year rule and provided a chance for Tunisians to shape their own future.
Barack Obama, the US president, and Nicolas Sarkozy, the French president, both issued statements late on Friday after Ben ...
Our tears' castrating powers
From now on, when a man brings up the much-spoken phrase, ``I can stand anything, except seeing her cry,'' there is no reason to believe that he's part of an insensitive male ploy against the tendency of many women to display their emotions. It turns out that a study published in the journal Science has found that female tears affect men's behavior. And how! At the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel, groups of men were asked to smell a cloth moistened with a woman's tears. The effect was im...
Gates of Vienna News Feed 1/14/2011
The riots and unrest in Tunisia have abated somewhat since President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali stepped down from his office and left the country. He is reported to have gone into exile in Saudi Arabia. Before he resigned, Mr. Ben-Ali commanded the police to stop firing on Protesters, and ordered a reduction in the price of staple foods such as bread, milk, and sugar. The Rioting began as a Protest against major Inflation and high Unemployment, but escalated to civil conflict after protesters were ...
Obama readies new focus on education (AP)
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama is putting Education Reform at the forefront of his agenda as he prepares for his State of the Union address and adjusts to the new reality of a divided government. But trouble signs are already emerging.
Political pressures from the coming 2012 Presidential Campaign and disputes over timing, money and scope loom over a debate affecting millions — the overdue renewal of the nation's governing education law, known as No Child Left Behind.
