Obama's War in the Gulf
When President Obama gave his Speech about the BP Oil Spill, much was made of his using war terminology. Weeks later, it appears that, like everything else Obama, it was just talk. Actually, it’s pretty obvious that the only war he’s waging in the Gulf is with Gulf state Governors, fishermen and Environmentalists.
Rep. Dan Burton’s op-ed
in Human Events highlights some things that the American People need to know about:
On the 65th day of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, the...

Alex gained strength and appeared on track to become a Hurricane Tuesday before it makes...
Former half-term governor Palin lectures President Obama on leadership
Oh, the irony. It burns :
Sarah Palin fired up an enthusiastic Texas crowd late Saturday by criticizing President Barack Obama's handling of the Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico, saying he's falling short on leadership.
The former Alaska Governor and 2008 Republican vice Presidential Candidate told about 5,000 people at the Oil Palace in Tyler that the president should have been more aggressive in going after BP executives after the Spill. The British company was leasing a rig that exploded...

Art activists take on the Tate crowd over BP
The warmth of a real June day is still in the air. It is so soothingly hot, so summery, that it's hard to believe that Activists are really about to take direct action outside the elegant confines of the BP and Tate Britain summer party . The arriving partygoers are certainly taking a blitz-spirit attitude to the possibility, strolling through the groups of Journalists and Protesters and dismissing any suggestion that arts institutions like the Tate should not be taking money from Fossil Fuel...
G-20 summit: Negotiators omit 'voluntary' from climate change plan at G-20 summit
Reporting from Toronto —
In a last-minute turn in Global Climate talks, international negotiators agreed over the weekend to adopt more ambitious plans than expected to trim Government Subsidies to Oil companies worldwide, part of a broader effort to reduce Greenhouse-gas emissions.
Earlier this week, negotiators were hammering out an agreement among the top 20 industrialized and emerging nations that called for each to take "voluntary" measures to cut production and consumption...
New York Fed probes Wall Street exposure to BP say sources
New York
(Reuters) - The Federal Reserve Bank of New York has been probing major Financial firms' exposure to BP Plc to ensure that if the Oil giant buckles under the costs of the Gulf Oil Spill, it won't put Wall Street or the global Financial System at risk, according to two sources familiar with the matter.
After pouring over documents and asking banks about their exposure to BP over the past two weeks, the Fed found no systemic risk, and hasn't asked firms to alter their Credit...
Europe's Enduring Coal Subsidies
A tussle over Subsidies for the Coal Industry in the European Union offers another sign of how difficult it will be to phase out government support for Fossil Fuels , even in the most industrially advanced parts of the world. Aid for industries like Oil, gas and Coal is back in the spotlight after leaders at the summit meeting of the Group of 20 major economies in Toronto disappointed Environmentalists by mostly restating previous commitments to curb supports rather than making new pledges....

The U.S. Olympic Committee intends to maintain its partnership with BP, hoping the company that provides about $15 million in sponsorship funding through 2012 can find "as quick a solution as possible" to the crisis in the Gulf.
The USOC board discussed the embattled oil company at its quarterly meeting Monday.
"The board is monitoring the situation very carefully," chairman Larry Probst said. He telegraphed no moves to sever ties with BP, and spokesman Patrick Sandusky confirmed there were no...

Haley Barbour finally discovers BP's oil spill is real
Six weeks ago, Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour said encouraged people to come visit his state because the Oil wasn't a threat.
“The Mississippi Gulf Coast is open for business,” Barbour said. “Enjoy the beach and pay a little Sales Tax right here.”
Three weeks ago, Barbour said the Oil was "no big deal" and that the real damage was being caused by media coverage of the Spill.
"The truth is," he said, "we have had virtually no Oil. If you were on the Mississippi...
Tropical storm could disrupt oil spill cleanup; BP races to develop better containment system
New Orleans
— Tropical Storm Alex steamed across the Gulf of Mexico on Monday on a path that could keep it away from BP's busted Well but could still stir up heavy winds, rain and choppy seas that drive the Oil deeper inland and bring much of the cleanup to a standstill.
By midweek, boats skimming the sludge from the water may have to return to port for their own safety, and the floating Oil-containment booms could be rendered useless by waves slopping over them and may have to be pulled...
