Sweden : The future of Sweden's famous Welfare State was a central theme when the country's main political Party chiefs met late Friday for a final televised election debate.

The Hottest issue leading up to Sunday's general Elections -- the Far-right Sweden Democrats expected entrance into parliament and possible role as kingmakers after the vote -- was meanwhile barely touched upon in the debate. "I am not against cutting taxes, but not at any price," Social Democrat leader Mona Sahlin, who is vying to...

Centre lead
THE centre-right, dominated by Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt's Moderates, has held a lead in Swedish Opinion Polls since June.
A rapid Economic Recovery in the country and solid public finances have combined to give a boost to the governing coalition.
Mr Reinfeldt has pledged to cut Income taxes further if The Economy and spending on the cherished Welfare State allow.
The likeliest consequence of an inconclusive result would be Mr Reinfeldt staying on to head a minority government.

How a young woman's blog post is changing the Swedish elections
I'm in Sweden this week as part of my ongoing work to help develop a progressive blogosphere outside of the US, and have had the unique opportunity to follow the Swedish national Elections, which are taking place this Sunday. While, like much of Europe, Sweden has a flurry of political parties from Left to Right, the two main contenders in the upcoming election are the conservative Prime Minister, Fredrik Reinfeldt, and his progressive opponent, Mona Sahlin.
While Sweden was an early contender...
Cal Thomas Hits a New Low (if That Is Possible)
For years, Cal Thomas has been giving us his Theocon message (Thanks, Lew, for that term) of Police State at home and invasions abroad. Oh, I know he once wrote a book that James Dobson didn’t like in which Thomas said that politics was not the ultimate Christian goal, but basically the message we get from Thomas is this: The Right-Wing American State is worthy of worship.
In a recent column Thomas looks at Cuba’s recent decision to lay off Government workers and create more private...

FINNISH STATE BROADCASTER YLE2 ATTACKS SWEDEN DEMOCRATS IN SMEAR-REPORT.......
Thanks to Vlad for grabbing this and uploading the Tundra Tabloids' translation. I find it incredible that a state TV channel funded by the Finnish Taxpayer is spending hard earned tax money in attacking a political party of a neighboring country.
Of course they more than likely got help from their counterparts in Sweden. This political environment in which we live, is really retarded, especially in Sweden. KGS

Sweden heads to the polls
The Sweden Democrats have been demonized and are referred to below as “far-right” but they are in fact little different from any other conservative party except that, unusually for Sweden, they are very critical of Muslim Immigration, which is apparently very naughty of them. A similar party in Denmark has succeeded in getting very tough Immigration laws passed so they do seriously threaten the Swedish establishment. There is a lot of public support for a crackdown on...
Sweden looks set to re-elect centre-right
A NUMBER of polls show Sweden's centre-right government is heading for re-election today, although its majority could be threatened if a small, Anti-Immigrant party enters the Swedish parliament.
One survey in the country shows the centre-right, four-party Alliance winning 183 of the parliament's 349 seats.
The opposition Red-Green bloc got 166 seats in the poll results yesterday, while the nationalist Swedish Democrats narrowly missed the 4 per cent bar needed to gain a seat.

Nepal & China: Intercepted Audio Tape Controversy
Nepal provides an important buffer zone between two giant countries - India and China - in the mighty Himalayas. So far this cushion has worked well. But now an intercepted telephone call between a senior Nepalese Maoist leader and an unknown Chinese discussing the use of $6.75m to bribe members of Nepalese parliament to elect a Maoist Prime Minister, has created a serious controversy, and concerns about China’s motives.
The intrigue comes at a sensitive time for Nepals...
Alert Maddow! Dem Staffers Hoist Nazi Signs of Beck and Palin
It seems to me that the truth ought to be a defense against any charge of Racism or slander. You shouldn’t be able to generate outrage over the fact that person A calls person B a Communist, for instance, if person B is on record identifying them-self as a Communist. And yet that’s partly what Rachel Maddow does in her extremely lame attempt to prove that Fox News in general [...] Video: Anita Dunn on the War on Fox This was reported Friday, but the video wasn’t broadcast...

China -- economic juggernaut, running scared
The country's Communist leadership — it's still a Communist country, remember? — has staked its legitimacy on an implicit bargain: Let us rule, and we'll create good jobs, increase workers' incomes and reduce rural Poverty. But in a nation of 1.3 Billion, with wild extremes of Poverty and wealth, that's harder than it sounds. To keep expansion on an even keel, Economist Fan Gang says, China's economy needs to keep growing by at least 8% a year for the foreseeable future. And to...

And when I say "eliminate," I mean "kill."
Twenty-five million people.

Bravo as bidder buys a Berlin icon
A MYSTERY telephone bidder bought a piece of history in the form of "Checkpoint Bravo" - once one of the busiest crossing points between East and West Berlin - in an auction yesterday.
The sole bidder secured the site - which includes a derelict bridge and a crumbling cafe covered in graffiti, for 37,000 - the minimum asking price.
Less famous than its counterpart "Checkpoint Charlie", which lies in central Berlin, Checkpoint Bravo was built along a motorway in the city's south-west to...
Communist Insurgency In Malaya-The Documentary is A Farce Without Even Mentioning The Roles Of Sarawak Ranger
watched several times the screening of National Geographic Documentary " The Emergency in Malaya" specially filmed in conjunction with the National Day celebration recently. The Documentary detailed the "undeclared war" where the Communist Terrorists (termed by the British) tried to capture Malaya and rule her in accordance with the Communist ideology, doctrine and principles. The British colonists, at all cost, must stop this spread of Communism, resulting in a series of bloody battles, mainly...
Tiananmen Square Hypothetical, by Bryan Caplan
Suppose the 1989 Tiananmen Square Protests ended not in a bloodbath, but in the collapse of Chinese Communism and the establishment of multi-party Democracy. What would have happened to the Chinese Economy between 1989 and today? Would it have done better, worse, or about the same?
Fans of Democracy will probably insist that Chinese Growth would have been even higher. Censorship and fear make it hard for China to fully integrate with the world marketplace. And Democracy...
