Climate Change: A couple of years ago, the Center for Collective Intelligence (I wonder about the potential for this every day in running a blog) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology launched the Climate Collaboratorium.

James Cameron: a bully and a gigantic hypocrite
Director James Cameron is out to save the planet . If you are skeptical of the claims of the alarmists that Man is destroying the planet via Greenhouse Gas Emissions, he calls you a denier who has your head up your backside . He’d like to have a “shootout” with you, except that, when taken up on the offer, he suddenly has other things to do…
Anyway, wouldn’t you expect that, being a good little cultist of the Church of Anthropogenic Global Warming, he’d try...

China refuses to budge on greenhouse gases
Beijing — China refused to budge Wednesday on its demands that rich nations commit to large Greenhouse Gas cuts at upcoming Climate Change talks, while also declining to put a ceiling on its own Emissions.
China and other Developing nations will call on rich Countries to cut Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 40 percent by 2020 from 1990 levels at negotiations in Copenhagen in December, said Yu Qingtai, China's top Climate negotiator.

Ken Buck would let climate change ruin Colorado and unilaterally disarm its clean energy leadership
Tea Party favorite and would-be GOP Senator from Colorado, Ken Buck, has burst into the National scene with his Climate denial (see Buck embraces Inhofe: Global Warming is the greatest Hoax ).
Sure a study by the Aspen Global Change Institute forecasts that if Global Carbon Emissions continue to rise at their current pace, Aspen could warm by some 14 degrees by century’s end giving it a feel similar to Amarillo, TX. Hey, there will always be hiking!
And sure another ...

EPA head: New carbon controls on big trucks and buses 'win for planet'
The Obama Administration on Monday continued its push to reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Vehicles, proposing the first-ever Emissions limits for medium- and heavy-duty trucks and buses.
The joint requirement from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) would require a 20 percent cut in Emissions and fuel use from long-haul tractor-trailer trucks for model years 2014 to 2018.
This will be a win-win-win, for reducing oil...
Ethanol's Failed Promise
The willingness to try, fail and try again is the essence of scientific progress. The same sometimes holds true for Public Policy. It is in this spirit that today, Earth Day, we call upon Congress to revisit recently enacted federal mandates requiring the diversion of foodstuffs for production of Biofuels. These "food-to-fuel" mandates were meant to move America toward Energy Independence and mitigate global Climate Change. But the evidence irrefutably demonstrates that this Policy is not...

In 1973, Motorola demonstrated the world’s first cell phone, weighing in at close to four and a half pounds[1]. It was not introduced into the U.S. until 1983, and after slow growth at first, over the course of just ten years from 1997 to 2007 the total number of Mobile Phone subscriptions jumped from reaching 8% of Global population to serving nearly half of all the world’s inhabitants. Politics: European Energy Companies Funding Climate Skeptic Campaigns in the U.S.
There's been no shortage of attention paid to the vast amount of money being poured in the 2010 Midterm campaigns by corporationswith the bulk of the cash going to conservative Candidates. Given the strongly skeptical views on Climate Change that now dominate the Republican Partyand especially their angrier cousins in the Tea Party that's bad news for anyone hoping Congress will act on Carbon Emissions, or even just energy as a whole. But for what greens call the Fossil-fuel lobby...

Such methods are both oblivious to and in violation of on-the-ground political and technological realities that serve as practical "boundary conditions" for effective policy making. Until climate policies are designed with respect for these boundary conditions, failure is certain. Santos: 'Proposition 19 Could Change Colombia's Drug Policy'
Tell me if there is a way to explain to a Colombian peasant that if he produces marijuana we are going to put him in jail [while] the same product is legal [in California]. Thats going to produce a comprehensive discussion on the approach we have taken on the fight against drug trafficking, said Santos, who, a couple of months earlier, endorsed the call for a debate on drug legalization made by Mexican president Felipe Caldern. However, Santos has also said that he believes that...
