Some of the key concepts: On FOX, the news exists in order to generate Controversy. And controversy exists in order to generate resentment. And the resentment is what generates Ratings. So this is my most concise idea about Fox: ...

Pinheads? Bill OReilly Fires Back At The Simpsons For Fox News Swipe
Sunday night’s episode of The Simpsons opened with a harsh jibe at Fox News, or more to the point, the audience of Fox News, when a news chopper featured a fictional FOX News slogan emblazoned on a Helicopter that read “Not Racist But #1 With Racists.” Bill O’Reilly, the Irish beat cop of Fox News, took exception of the cartoon family, calling producers “pinheads” for continually “biting the hand that feeds them.”

NewsBusters' False Equivalence on Nazi Smears
Topic: NewsBusters
Lachlan Markay goes the false-equivalence route in a Nov. 22 NewsBusters post responding to NPR's noting that "Fox News does stand out amid Mainstream Media outlets for its ferocity and frequency" in hurling Nazi smears.
Markay asserted that "NPR invoked vague claims by far-left Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank ... to paint FNC as unique in its invocation of Nazism." In fact, Milbank was quite specif...
O'Reilly attacks 'Simpsons' as 'pinheads' after Fox '#1 with racists' jibe
Fox News' Bill O'Reilly got his revenge on The Simpsons Monday but didn't deny the charge that his network is popular with Racists. On Sunday's episode of the long-running cartoon series, a Fox News Helicopter carrying a network executive reads, "FOX News: Not Racists, But #1 With Racists." After the Fox News executive steps out of the Helicopter into the head of the Statue of Liberty, the Aircraft goes into a tailspin and crashes. The pilot can be heard saying, "It's not fair, we're unbalanced....
FOX News sucks, so support FOX News
Here's an ad submitted by the Palm Center, a Santa Barbara-based research center that produces research and conferences on Don't Ask, Don't Tell:
The ad was rejected by Fox News. Here's Palm Center Director Aaron Belkin:
"I am surprised that Fox News would reject an ad featuring allied Generals, given that host Bill O'Reilly and guest contributor Liz Cheney have both expressed support for open gay service. This is an important time for input from all sides on this issue, and I hope Fox will ...

Fox News Refuses To Run Ad In Favor Of Ending DADT, Despite Public Support For Repeal
Raw Story’s Sahil Kapur is reporting that FOX News is refusing to air an ad advocating for repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. The 30-second spot, produced by the Palm Center, “includes Testimony from Military leaders of NATO allies arguing that lifting the ban on gay Soldiers is a ‘non-event’ and does not diminish combat effectiveness.”

Glenn Beck: MSNBC Will Be Sacrificial Lamb In Exchange For Ending Fox News
Senator Jay Rockefeller confessed recently that he’d prefer a world without Fox News or MSNBC. Naturally, it didn’t take Glenn Beck too long to find an insidious left-wing scheme boiling beneath the surface: the left, Beck told Bill O’Reilly in a special Thanksgiving visit to the Factor, is planning on “sacrificing” MSNBC in a quid-pro-quo negotiation to eliminate FOX News.
The conversation sprung from comments made by former president Jimmy Carter , who once again ...
Bernie Goldberg Warns Fox News About Its Bias
In a discussion about Fox News’ power, Fox News’ media critic Bernard Goldberg offered up a startling admonition to Fox. “If Fox champions causes, if Fox likes one Candidate or treats them differently than another, then you know what, it’s blowing an opportunity to be the important voice in broadcasting.”
Goldberg’s statement came in the middle of a segment in which he and Bill O’Reilly largely agreed, with predictable statements, about the so-called ...

‘Simpsons’ invents new Fox News motto: ‘#1 with racists’
Stumble This! In the world of The Simpsons, Fox News' well-known "fair and balanced" motto has been replaced. Sarah Palin, Riot Grrrl
To paraphrase Lillian Hellman, I don't agree with a word that Sarah Palin says, including "and" and "the." And as a liberal feminist, it drives me absolutely bonkers that Palin is the most visible working mother and female politician in America, that she is the best exemplar of a woman with an equal marriage, that she has put up with less crap from fewer men than those of us who have read The Second Sex and marched in pro-abortion rallies and pretty much been on the right side of all the issues...
Fox News refuses to run ad about gay troops
Fox News doesn't want you to know that the result of Lesbian & gay Soldiers serving openly in other countries is... business as usual. That's according to Generals from allied militaries, who say that gay Troops do not undermine combat effectiveness. Here's The Palm Center's 30-second advertisement that Fox News refuses to run.
Voiceover: As the millitary prepares to end "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", our NATO allies have told us what to expect... Business as usual.
Major General Semianiw: "There i...

Fox News has declined to run an ad featuring generals lobbying for gay Troops’ right to serve openly in the Military.
The ad was put out by the Palm Center, a Think Tank at the University of California at Santa Barbara, which released a statement about the ad’s rejection today.

Fox News Rejects Ad On Don't Ask, Don't Tell Repeal (VIDEO)
WASHINGTON -- Fox News has rejected an advocacy group's ad on repealing Don't Ask, Don't Tell (DADT), in which generals from around the world say that allowing Gay men and women to serve openly is no Big Deal.
"I am surprised that Fox News would reject an ad featuring allied Generals, given that both host Bill O'Reilly and guest contributor Liz Cheney have expressed support for open Gay service," said Palm Center director Aaron Belkin in a statement. "This is an important time for input from ...
Fox News rejects DADT repeal ad
The GOP Propaganda channel Fox “News” has rejected an ad the highlights various allied Generals in support of Gays and Lesbians serving in the United States Armed Forces. Fox “News” the Unfair and Unbalanced” Propaganda channel that features several contributors and hosts who are clearly Unbalanced, said no to the ad because it does not fit the GOP "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell" agenda. The United States Secretary of Defense Bill Gates, and the Chairman of th...
Ailes and Murdoch: Beck is their man. To employees who are troubled: "Shut up. You're getting a paycheck."
"Shut Up. You're Getting A Paycheck"
by digby
Speaking of Fox News, I think this article by Media Matters' Sarah Pavlus puts to rest any notion that they are going to be pressured into changing their ways because it's widely believed that they are employing dangerous, insane demagogues:
Is Murdoch out of touch with what is happening at his own network? Is his defense and praise of Beck an accident? That seems unlikely, given that he views the network as the jewel of his empire. When asked ea...
OReilly: Fox News Is The Most Powerful Media Agency In The World
Forget the usual sniping about MSNBC-Bill O’Reilly wants you to know Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow simply don’t rate in one key area: global power domination.
“There is no power at MSNBC to do anything. Here at Fox, we have emerged-and correct me if you think I’m wrong-but I think Fox News is the Most Powerful media agency in the world. Not just the country, but the world.”
That bold claim may not be as surprising as the reaction from Bernie Go...

Van Hollen: Tax cuts for wealthy 'not a big job creator'
A top House Democrat this week said extending billions of dollars in Tax Cuts to the nation's highest earners will do nothing to spur Job Creation.
Rep. Chris Van Hollen (Md.), chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, asked why, if those cuts are such great job stimulators, Unemployment is nearly 10 percent with the cuts currently in place.
"It's clear that the Tax Cuts for the folks at the very top have not created any jobs. After all, we've had them in place now for mor...
W. Va. mine blast: Coal firm had worst safety record
Source: MSNBC
Despite its claims that its safety record was average, no U.S. coal company had a worse fatality record than Massey Energy Co., even before an Explosion at its Upper Big Branch mine in West Virginia killed 29 on April 5, according to an analysis by the Investigative Reporting Workshop at American University.
Massey, the largest coal company in central Appalachia, has come under heightened scrutiny in the six months since the disaster, the deadliest mining accident in nearly 40 ..
Interview with Megyn Kelly, Fox News Anchor: Politics: GQ
It wasn't an Infomercial! It was an abs tape! In another life—and as I like to say, another body—I used to teach aerobics. I was paid one whole dollar to be Backup Girl #1. So you got a JD instead? Yeah, I joined the Student government in college and you got to investigate the faculty and hear all the dirt. And so I thought I wanted to be a DA, a prosecuting attorney. But, in Manhattan, that would've put me at the federal Poverty level, so I took a job with a big old Law Firm that a...
