Armed Forces: Now that DADT and the overall ban on Homosexuals in the Armed Forces, I thought I'd find a generic argument in favor of the Repeal of DADT, and change the word "gay" to "Klan" or "Klansmen"; "conservative" to "liberal", etc. I don't use the Ku Klux Klan as the operative word due to any great amount of admiration I have for the Klan... anything but.
I use the KKK as the example to illustrate just how absurd the liberal defense of the Repeal of DADT really is.
But if you like, you...
NC Lawmaker Lashes Out At Burr For DADT Repeal Vote: Homosexuals Are Sexual Predators
NC Lawmaker Lashes Out At Burr For DADT Repeal Vote: ‘Homosexuals Are Sexual Predators’
During his re-election bid this past November, Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) said that he supported the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy and expressed concern about “changing the accommodations for Troops if the policy changed.” But following the Pentagon’s review of the ban and the Testimony of Military leadership, Burr ultimately voted for final passage of repeal, even as...
Pundit accountability: Which predictions did I blow in 2010?
The night that Health Care reform passed the House, I stood under a balcony and listened to Rep. Michele Bachmann promise full Repeal by any means necessary. Since then, I've taken it seriously when Republicans come up with ways to undo ObamaCare. But I was skeptical at first of the Lawsuits filed by state attorneys general, aimed at repealing the mandate portion of the bill. "Ambitious Republican politicians are clambering on board with the idea of Lawsuits to Repeal the Health Care individual ...

N.C. Official: Richard Burr's 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Vote Sanctions 'Sexual Predators'
One of the surprises of the Senate's Repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," the policy banning gays from serving openly in the Military, was the vote of Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina. The reliably conservative Burr was one of eight Republicans who supported repeal. In a statement after the Dec. 18 vote, Burr made clear his doubts about the timing of the change because "making such a shift in policy at a time when we have Troops deployed in active combat areas does not take into consideration t...
As Gay Becomes Bourgeois
So now Openly Gay Soldiers get to fight and die in neocon-imperialist wars too?
David Brooks saw such ironic progressive victories coming. In his book "Bobos in Paradise," he wrote that everything "transgressive" gets "digested by the mainstream bourgeois order, and all the cultural weapons that once were used to undermine middle-class Morality … are drained of their subversive content."
Two decades ago, the gay left wanted to smash the bourgeois Prisons of monogamy, capitalistic enterprise ...
Elephant Dung #8: Right-wing groups pull out of CPAC over inclusion of gays
Tracking the GOP Civil War
By Michael J.W. Stickings
(For an explanation of this ongoing series, see here. For previous entries, see here.)
Alright, this has more to do with the conservative "movement" broadly than with the GOP, but still -- these days, you can't have the GOP without the right-wing insanitarium known as CPAC, and the target here is a Republican group. As the right-wing WND is reporting:
Two of the nation's premier moral issues organizations, the Family Research Council and Co...

GOLDBERG FOR THE DEFENSE. I sympathize with BigHank53, who commented on my analysis of Jonah Goldberg's Big Gay Column, "Christ, it's a Jonah Goldberg essay. Looking for an actual argument in there is like taking the back of the TV off during The Lone Ranger so you can grab yourself a miniature horse." Yes, it's all futile, but heaven hath pleased it so, to punish me with this and this with me, etc. Thus harried, I must also note this from Goldberg's follow-up at The Corner, regarding his own fu...
Why We Won't Get Along
This item is cross-posted from The New Republic.
In the wake of the most productive lame-duck congressional session in years--the crux of which was a grand bargain between Mitch McConnell and Barack Obama, who until recently seemed as if they could cooperate on absolutely nothing--devotees of Bipartisanship have renewed their flagging hopes. These seem to include the president himself, who commented: "If there's any lesson to draw from these past few weeks, it's that we're not doomed to endle...
Michael Medved: Lesbian Sex Is Better, Because It Hurts To Take It In The Ass
"The politically correct attitude not only insists that Heterosexual and Homosexual relationships are equivalent, but also erases differences between relationships between two women and relationships between two men. If men and women are profoundly different-and both science and common sense tell us they are- then an all-female couple is even more different from an all-male couple than either Homosexual bond differs from a Heterosexual union.
"This distinction helps explain the oft-noted quirk...
Michael Medved's theory of bunghole pain and pleasure.
Via Joe My God ("Michael Medved: Lesbian Sex Is Better, Because It Hurts To Take It In The Ass") and Truth Wins Out ("Michael Medved, Are You Speaking From Personal Experience Here?"), clear evidence that Wingnut "film and culture critic" Michael Medved thinks a lot about bungholes. Of men. And how he thinks they are being used.
You have to read this to believe it:
"The politically correct attitude not only insists that Heterosexual and Homosexual relationships are equivalent, but also erase...
The Best Films of 2010
As the Ghost becomes more and more aware of the sensitive information in the memoirs he is redacting, the Ghost finds himself in more and more danger (one could ask if The Ghost would have been compelled to send the text of the memoirs to Wikileaks).
This is one smart thriller that really doesn't rely on violence to tell the story. It's a classic controlled plot that moves forward with good pace and delivers.
8. The Kids Are All Right
This may very well be the first comedy drama to involve t...
WaPokeep ROTC out of our precious Ivies
Because, you know, its all about war and stuff.
The Washington Post rolled out what I consider an inevitable op/ed today about keeping ROTC off the campuses of Ivy League schools who banned it when DADT was in effect. Colman McCarthy, a former Post columnist who directs the Center for Teaching Peace claims that ROTC is essentially an anti-intellectual endeavor which can be opposed on moral grounds:
It should not be forgotten that schools have legitimate and moral reasons for keeping ...

Tea Party Nation’s President puts SPLC, NAACP, ACLU, SEIU, and Department Homeland Security on his very own Hate Group list. Rep.-elect Tim Huelskamp (R-KA) picks Religious Right Activist and radio Talk Show host Jim Pfaff to be his Chief of Staff. Rep. Steve King (R-IA) says he consistently asks Students “at the K-12 level in their entirety” about their views on Abortion. Open to interpretation
OPEN TO INTERPRETATION.... For their first bit of pandering to a confused party base, conservative Republicans will kick off the 112th Congress by reading the Constitution out loud. There's nothing especially wrong this, of course, but it's a rather meaningless stunt.
But wait, there's more. After reading the document aloud, Republicans will then force House members to include a statement from bills' sponsors "outlining where in the Constitution Congress is empowered to enact such Legislation....
Republicans Take Cue from Pinocchio on Health Care Reform
Republicans have never let facts stand in the way of their attacks on Health Care reform. Who can forget the whopper lie that the new Health Care reform law would hasten your grandmother’s earthly exit? Or the one about heart patients waiting in long lines for their ration of cardiac medicine? The latest lie about the Affordable Care Act comes as conservative groups and House Republicans gear up for a campaign to Repeal the law by claiming polls show the majority of America
Eboo Patel: On Muslims, Gays and Tolerance In America
No one is happier to wave goodbye to 2010 than American Muslims. Favorability Ratings for our faith actually declined this year. Leading public figures compared Muslims to Nazis, swift-boated one of our most respected Religious Leaders and basically suggested we were planning a hostile takeover of America.
But there was a silver lining to this year of religious Bigotry. Every time the forces of intolerance made a move to marginalize Muslims, the forces of inclusion in America rose up to defend...
Katie Couric: We Need a Muslim Version of The Cosby Show to Change Americans Attitudes Towards Islam
I also think sort of the chasm, between, or the Bigotry expressed against Muslims in this country has been one of the most disturbing stories to surface this year. Of course, a lot of noise was made about the Islamic Center, Mosque, down near the World Trade Center, but I think there wasn’t enough sort of careful analysis and evaluation of where this Bigotry toward 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide, and how this seething hatred many people feel for all Muslims, which I think is so misdirected,...
Katie Couric: Maybe We Need A Muslim Version Of The Cosby Show
As 2010 comes to a close, the media industry is taking their annual breather to reflect upon all the things they had to cover in the past year. Katie Couric used CBSNews.com to review 2010 like so: “The Bigotry expressed against Muslims in this country has been one of the most disturbing stories to surface,” highlighting to her panel the Controversy surrounding the Park51 project. In that media narrative, she saw “a seething hatred many people feel for all Muslims,” one t...
Marty Peretz has black friends
Sure, New Republic owner and erstwhile editor-in-chief Marty Peretz regularly writes absolutely appalling things about Muslims and Arabs, but he's no bigot, according to Marty Peretz. After all, he explained to New York, he is friends with two or three black people:
When I met Peretz ten weeks later, he still seemed on edge. The Bigotry charge was what lingered. “I mean, it hurts,” he said. We were in the dining room of the Loews Regency Hotel in Midtown Manhattan, where the waiters ...

Get alerts when there is a new article that might interest you. The Telegraph reports on China's changing Rhetoric. "In the coming five years, our Military will push forward preparations for Military conflict in every strategic direction," said Liang Guanglie in an interview...
COL FB: Army 16, Southern Methodist 14
DALLAS, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Josh McNary returned a fumble 55 yards for a touchdown Thursday helping Army to a 16-14 win over Southern Methodist in the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl. The Black Knights' offense backed McNary's defensive score with a 13-yard scoring run by Malcolm Brown later in the first quarter and a 44-yard Alex Carlton field goal shortly before halftime for a 16-0 lead. Army (7-6) was able to make that lead stand up through the second half and collected its first victory in a ...

China preparing for armed conflict 'in every direction'

China is preparing for conflict 'in every direction', the defence minister said on Wednesday in remarks that threaten to overshadow a visit to Beijing by his US counterpart next month.
"In the coming five years, our Military will push forward preparations for Military conflict in every strategic direction," said Liang Guanglie in an interview published by several state-backed Newspapers in China. "We may be living in peaceful times, but we can never forget war, never send the horses...

SEOUL, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- South Korea said Wednesday it is reorganizing its Military to fortify defenses against the North after recent heightened tensions and provocations. The Yonhap News Agency said a Joint Forces Command will replace the current Joint Chiefs of Staff to improve coordination of the armed services, the Defense Ministry said in a report to President Lee Myung-bak. The eight operational commands in The Army, Navy and Air Force will be consolidated into one for each branch. Offici...
