This should have been done years ago. I will admit that winter served some sort of purpose 25 years ago, when society clearly benefited from the cancellation of certain sixth-grade classes because of snow. We would not be where we are today, as a civilization, if not for the snow football that was played in 1985. But it should be obvious to everybody at this point that we simply cannot affor...
The year ahead on the eve of Christie's "State of the State" Address
On Tuesday afternoon, Governor Christie will give his yearly "State of the State" Address. He will look to forecast the year ahead in the Garden State and will do so with a year under his belt. If 2010 taught the state anything, Christie is not easily pressured by others and will govern as he wants to. It is his state to run and his language on Tuesday might foreshadow another year of a tough-minded, fiscal warrior in Trenton. Despite the hard to predict decisions of Christie in year one, Christ...

Report: Now Chris Christie May be Too Fat to be President
Photo: NYM
People and looks today. Obama was once considered too thin to be President. Some woman was considered too sexy to be a Banker. And the Winklevoss twins are too hot to shut up. Now comes speculation that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who has repeatedly denied any plans to run for president in 2012, is simply too fat to be president anyway. Much like the time he was called too fat to be governor.
A recent Zogby Poll of hypothetical Republican Candidates showed Christie first in ...

Kansas Third District Representative, Dennis Moore, retired to spend more time with his family. Strangely enough, his wife, Stephene announced she would run in his place. Mrs. Moore, a registered nurse, said in a statement, "I will be a voice of reason who puts Kansas families ahead of Partisanship, because it shouldn't matter if an idea is a Democratic idea or a Republican idea, what is important is if it is a good idea for Kansas." Yes, Stephene, you are absolutely correct in your b...

John Elway Insists Tim Tebow Is Not On The Trading Block
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — John Elway is barely into his first weekend as the Denver Broncos' new chief of football operations and already he's in damage-control mode.
Elway took to his Twitter account Saturday to deny speculation he would trade Quarterback Tim Tebow.
The fuss started when Peter King strongly implied on NBC that Elway might trade Tebow to the team that hires former Broncos coach Josh McDaniels as offensive coordinator.
Elway has said on several occasions since being hired as the...

Georgia receiver A.J. Green is giving up his senior season to enter the NFL Draft. Green's draft prospects were boosted even more by Stanford Quarterback Andrew Luck's decision last week to return to college next season. Over a three-year college car...

Thom Loverro: Can Shanahan draft like a champion?
There's lots of angst in Redskinsland over what Mike Shanahan will do in the upcoming NFL Draft. Will he draft a young Quarterback like Ryan Mallet or Jake Locker with the 10th pick in the draft? Or will he avoid the temptation and instead build within the foundation of the team, concentrating on the defensive and offensive lines? Or will they somehow manage to trade down and get more desperately needed picks? I recommend to all Redskins fans that they scour the Internet to get a copy of the 199...

LB Matthews seeks respect for Oregon's D
If Oregon Linebacker Casey Matthews should need to seek any outside advice — or even any words of encouragement — before the national championship, he's got a couple of solid options. Matthews has quite a pedigree when it comes to football. His father, Clay, won a national championship with Southern California in 1974 and spent 19 years in the NFL. His uncle, Bruce, was a Hall of Fame Offensive Lineman in the NFL. Casey's brother, Clay Jr., won a title as a redshirt freshman with the...
