Public Relations: Spare me the shock.

Violent talk inspires murderous rage.
VIDEOS: Mitch McConnell in videos
Tormented souls are precisely why such incindiary talk is so dangerous. And spare me the smarmy, unctuous statements from the John Boehners and Mitch McConnells and their claqueurs and their overseers. Their sandbox tough-talk and ersatz bravo have debased both public and private dialogue. I'm braced for the inevitable, nauseous wave of evasions ahead. "Who, me?" Yes, by all things sacred, YOU. We've gotten used to them; we treat them a...
Exposed--documentation of Leftwing hate, threats
The concerted effort by the Leftwing, the Mainstream Media, and high-profile Democrats to blame Conservatives for the Tuscon shooting continues this afternoon. Senators Patrick Leahy and John Kerry alluded to the 'need to curb rightwing Rhetoric.' Liberals in Congress have stated they wish to pass Legislation to curb certain forms of free Speech. One Congressman in particular stated this afternoon on Fox News that Sharron Angle, GOP Candidate for Senate in Nevada, was partly responsible fo...
Leahy: Don't overdo security for lawmakers
In the wake of the recent Arizona Shooting Spree, Sen. Patrick Leahy said Tuesday that more rank-and-file lawmakers do not need radically beefed up security, likening that sort of situation to totalitarian states he has visited.
Leahy, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said in a Speech at the Newseum that Capitol police had provided “superb” security after he had been sent a letter contaminated by Anthrax following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
But he also said that he feels
What President Obama should say (#obamashouldsay)
President Obama is scheduled to speak in Arizona Wednesday evening. The Speech will come four days after a gunman, identified by police as Jared Lee Loughner, killed six people and wounded 14 during a shooting rampage in front of a Tucson Supermarket. Among the dead: a nine-year old girl who aspired to enter politics and a Federal Judge. Among the wounded: Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), the apparent target. Analysts and commentators around the web are giving the president advice regarding wh...
Obama State of the Union Comes at a Key Time
It's official. President Obama's State of the Union address will take place on January 25 this year. The formal invitation was sent Tuesday, according to protocol, by House Speaker John Boehner. Fox has learned that Mr. Obama has accepted it. The president will speak at a key time for his party and for the nation. With millions still out of work, Americans are looking to their government for solutions. After losing control of the House, the president is perhaps recalibrating his message from yea...
Former Rep. Kanjorski, who Called for the Execution of a Gubernatorial Candidate, on Civility in Politics
Here's former Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-Pa.), writing in today's New York Times:
We all lose an element of freedom when security considerations distance public officials from the people. Therefore, it is Incumbent on all Americans to create an atmosphere of civility and respect in which political discourse can flow freely, without fear of violent confrontation.
Absolutely.
If Kanjorski, who was not re-elected in November, is familiar to people outside the district that let him go, it's probably be...
News Flash: Most Americans Believe there is No Link Between Rhetoric and Reality!
The answer to the big question of why we behave the way we do was provided by two social scientists, Professors Donald Snygg and Arthur Combs, a long time ago. Their answer: Because we think we should behave that way . To wit: "All behavior is rational at the time of the behavior to the behaver." It's really that simple.
So the question of why Loughner shot 20 people at the Safeway Plaza in Tucson is not a mystery. He shot those unfortunate human beings, killing six of them, because he believ...
Gun bans won't work
Every time a person goes on a Killing Spree politicians start pointing fingers at each other. Liberals claim that the killings represent the need for better Gun Control. Conservatives usually want stiffer punishment, claiming that it’s the people ant not the guns responsible for this tragedy. Already we are seeing signs that the shooter of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in Arozona, Jared Lee Loughner, had serious mental problems. That is our problem with the present Gun Laws. We can’t keep ...
The Paycheck Data CEOs Don't Want Us to See
Corporate America is working feverishly behind the scenes to smother a new federal mandate, enacted last year, that just might revitalize the drive to roll back excessive executive pay.
Sometimes Lobbyists — even the most perfectly coiffed — mess up. Lobbyists for Corporate America messed up big-time last summer. They let slip into law, via the 2,300-page Dodd-Frank Financial Reform bill, an obscure provision that could give future lawmakers a powerful lever for ratcheting down ex...
Detroit Free Press, Detroit News blame 2nd amendment for Arizona shooting
Deranged lunatics hell-bent on killing people will always be able to procure a weapon no matter the Gun Laws. All gun restrictions do is take weapons away from law-abiding citizens. When seconds count to save your life, the police are only minutes away. The liberal MSM just don't get the simple fact that the Founding Fathers wanted us to have the right to Bear Arms for a very good reason. The Detroit Free Press - the same outfit that predicted unprecedented violence when Michigan adopted far l...
Movie About J. Edgar Hoover Likely to Stoke Debate
The legacy of J. Edgar Hoover remains Controversial nearly four decades after his death, and a forthcoming movie by Clint Eastwood about the iconic FBI Director will do nothing to quiet the debate. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Hoover, the movie depicts the bulldog-faced G-man and lifelong bachelor as gay and in a romantic relationship with Associate FBI Director Clyde Tolson , his constant companion. As reported by Allen Lengel on his Tickle the Wire blog, the movie is already stirring emotions...
John Green on Freedom, by David Henderson
It has become so standard, when a family has had a tragedy, for a family member to advocate some further restriction on freedom even if that restriction would create more tragedies than it would prevent. It's kind of understandable. When a family member dies, we feel so impotent. We want to do something. I've never had something like John Green's tragedy of losing a beautiful vibrant little girl. The closest I've come is my brother's Suicide, which was a shock, but the suicide of a 22-year old...
Separation of Journalism and Politics
A question that I have been asking for quite some time was brought to the fore once again with the pervasive and obnoxious liberal bias in the so-called news reporting of the Assassination attempt on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. Why does anyone continue to purchase and read the New York Times, the Washington Post, Time Magazine, and other mainstream publications which have replaced accurate reporting with faux news accounts rising to the level of outright lies? And why does anyone waste tim...
Peter King: Both Sides to Blame for Inflamed Rhetoric
In a brief interview after his Gun Control Press Conference with Mayor Michael Bloomberg today, Long Island Congressman Peter King weighed in on the big question that has been dominating the blogosphere: How much is the violent Rhetoric, of the type used by Sarah Palin and the Tea Party, responsible for the Gabrielle Giffords tragedy?
King's take: The media were too quick to pounce on shooter Jared Loughner's supposed radical affiliations.
"I think too many elements in the media were too quick...
US abortions up for first time since 1990
The other side admits Abortion is wrong simply by its aversion to it. Do we say, “We regret to inform you more and more women are voting”? Or, “We have a dream, that black Civil Rights will be safe and legal but rare”? No, those freedoms are celebrated. Likewise, those insisting Abortion is a Constitutional Right should cheer when it proliferates, right? But you wouldn’t know by MSM’s headlines that the US Abortion rate, after almost 20 years of decline, is on...
Antidotes to political alienation
It seemed to start slowly, the feeling of alienation. First it was simply exasperation and amusement at the unhinged rantings of Glenn Beck. Then Sarah Palin’s polarizing campaign. But it slowly turned into something more sinister, with violent Rhetoric and calls to revolution — on both the left and the right — being a common occurrence. After the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords this weekend, I began to feel like I didn’t recognize my country anymore.
Whatever the motives fo...
Democrats two-fold agenda in aftermath of Arizona Shooting
Democrats in the aftermath of the Arizona massacre in which Jared Loughner went on a shooting spree, killing six innocent by-standers and critically wounding Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, immediately defined their agenda: blame conservative pundits and the Tea Party.
But casting the blame on Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Fox News is only part of the agenda of the far left Democrats. Let it be known Democrats have a two-fold agenda:
Democrats Agenda #1: Shut Down Free Speech
Wh...
Hannity Cites Description Of Loughner As Pot Smoking Liberal - No Mention Of Anti-Abortion Comment
As far as we know, Jared Loughner does not appear to have any clear political orientation - despite attempts on both the left and the right (ignored by Fox "News" which whined about "political cheap shots" from the left) to ascribe one to him. He was registered to vote as an independent. Based on what little was known of him, the right ran with the description of him as a "pot smoking liberal" - a description found on Alex Jones' website as well as numerous others despite comments, from those wh...
Manson Family Values
At Big Journalism, Christian Hartsock explains “How John Lennon Killed Sharon Tate (and Other Ideas For MSM Narratives):”
John Lennon murdered Sharon Tate. Jodie Foster shot Ronald Reagan. Oliver Stone and Marilyn Manson caused Columbine. A dog ordered the Son of Sam killings. And Fox News, the Tea Party and the American right compelled Jared Loughner to shoot Gabrielle Giffords and 18 others in Tucson.
The only reason these parallels don’t work is that while Charles Manson did i...
Glenn Bleck: Then And Now
Glenn Beck in 2005: "I'm thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I'm wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out -- is this wrong?"
Glenn Beck in 2011: "Sixty percent of Americans say the Rhetoric in America has nothing to do with the shooting. It's -- it's quite honestly an abomination that it's only 60 percent of the American people. I d...
CBS poll: 57% of Americans reject Palin did it media spin on Arizona massacre
According to a CBS poll, a 57% majority of Americans do not believe this weekend’s mass Murder had anything to do with politics. Bad news for the Far Left which has worked overtime to smear Sarah Palin and the Far Right in the wake of the shooting. Just how badly folks on professional left failed at politicizing this tragedy for their own political gain? Even a 49% plurality of the survey’s Democratic respondents does not buy the meme that Sarah Palin and the Tea Party are at fault ...
Arizona Shootings: The Culture of Guns
New York Times columnist David Brooks chided the media for making the "extremely murky" link between political Rhetoric and actual violence. Jon Stewart says "you don't know what a troubled mind will get caught on." And conservative radio talk hosts have characterized Jared Lee Loughner as an isolated case, while their liberal critics are seizing on the tragedy for political gain. In all of the passionate takes on what led to the tragedy, up to now relatively little atten...
Was Mayor Bloomberg In Bermuda During NYC Christmas Storm Prep? UPDATED
"On the day after Christmas, a request came into the Bermuda airport: a private plane needed to be pulled out of its hangar and readied for takeoff. "The pilots seemed a bit anxious to depart. This did not strike airport employees as unusual: the owners of private Aircraft are frequently in a rush. "But there was something memorable about this plane. Word had trickled out that its owner was Michael R. Bloomberg, said a person told of the conversations..." Bloomberg has repeat...
Gabrielle Giffords Shooting Coverage Becomes Media Navel Gazing
The Tucson shootings, three days removed, have reached the predictable place in the story arc in which media analysis turns into a meta-narrative about the nature of the coverage rather than the event itself. The Victims, intermittently remembered, first were props for an analysis of political Rhetoric, then a playing field for accusations of partisan opportunism and, finally, now are an excuse for media navel-gazing.
The coverage and meta-discussion have laid bare this essential truth: There ...
Goldberg to mainstream media--'shut the hell up!'
Goldberg made the comment last evening on Bill O'Reilly's show on Fox. O'Reilly had already castigated the Mainstream Media for joining in the Leftwing chorus of blaming Conservatives for the massacre that killed a Federal Judge and wounded a U.S. Congresswoman, among others. As a nightly guest on The O'Reilly Factor, Goldberg exposes bias inherent in the news reporting of the media. Goldberg had been part of CBS News under former anchor Dan Rather, and subsequently became a Whistleblower ...
Evaluating Palin's Response to the Giffords Shooting (The Atlantic Wire)
WASHINGTON, DC – Sarah Palin hates violence and war--she just happens talk about it because it makes a middle-aged mom with glasses and a hair pouf sound tough. Harsh judgment, but even those who see no connection between Palin's rough Rhetoric (complete with gunsights) and the Giffords shooting aren't impressed with her response to the tragedy. Giffords's shooter, Jared Lee Loughner, appears to have been mentally ill and did not mention Palin--or the infamous map--a single time in his p...
