Hospital : The Maine ski lift that released several cars and sent the riders plummeting to the ground Tuesday apparently had
problems other than the winds.
Workers who had been trying to realign the ski lift cable had stopped to get riders off the lift when the cable jumped its track, sending the cars falling to the ground.
The lift had been shut down due to high winds earlier that day, but had been cleared for operations.
The ski resort said about 20 minutes after the lift reopened, two maintenance workers noticed the cable was out of place. They attempted to fix it, but couldn't, and were about to shut down the lift when the cable derailed.
State investigators said that wind played a role, but did not rule out other contributing factors. The 35-year-old life had recently passed an inspection, but was known to be vulnerable to wind long before the cable snapped Tuesday, sending eight riders to the Hospital. A fresh, fluffy layer of snow prevented more patrons from being injured.

How Government Regulations Push Up Cost of Medicine and Limit Patient Choice
It’s no secret that Health Care is an industry beset by huge problems. The problem doesn’t as much stem from “evil Insurance Companies” as it does from a system created by federal and State Governments to make a system as economically inefficient as possible.
For instance, most people do not pick their own Insurance companies. Their employer does. The customer then isn’t the consumer, it is the business that contracts them to provide Insurance for their employees....

The News and the Post agree: Brooklyn suffered "the most serious problems." In particular, southern Brooklyn neighborhoo...

National Guard's Misplaced Priorities
In a really weak effort to mimic David Letterman's "top ten" lists, the National Guard Bureau released its top ten list of 2010 missions. At number nine, it lists the DoD's decision (not completion) to develop ten Homeland Response Forces that will aid in the response to a CBRN incident - even if that incident never happens. The National Guard added a Homeland Response Force package to its Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and high-yield Explosive response capa...
Health insurance mandates Constitutionality and the "necessary and proper" clause
It appears that the main question, or at least one of the main questions, about the Health Care mandate in ObamaCare that requires Americans buy Health Insurance may revolve around the "necessary and proper" clause and not just the badly abused Commerce clause.
From the New York Times:
The necessary-and-proper clause sits at the end of Article I, Section 8, after 17 paragraphs that enumerate the powers delegated to Congress, ranging from the establishment of Post Offices to the declar...
