New York City : The two days before Christmas are generally the last time that many retail outlets are able to make money at the end of the year, and options and discounts for holiday shoppers are helping to push Consumer Spending past pre-recession levels.
That's according to data that shows that in spite of still high Unemployment, savvy United States residents are still able to bring a little holiday cheer with some careful Shopping, according to AccessNorthGA.
Analysis of Shopping Mall Parking Lots tells part of the story, with many outlets showing increased traffic, and early receipts matching that demand.
And of note for many Retailers, those last-minute shoppers in New York City, in Georgia and throughout the United States aren't necessarily looking for deals like they would be on Black Friday.
Instead, it's an in-and-out affair so that they can spend more time with their family.
But it could just improve more than a few bottom lines in 2010 in the retail sector, too.

Four Herald business reporters weigh in on the age-old debate over whether out-of-control commercialism has corrupted the spirit of the holiday — or whether shopping, wrapping and gleefully ripping open gifts has itself become a beloved tradition.
