Florida : Police are continuing to investigate the shooting at a Panama City School Board meeting, where a 56-year-old man waited for Children to leave after receiving awards before spray-painting a V on the wall and ordering the room sealed except for School Board members.
It turns out that Clay Duke's wife was a special education teacher who had been let go by the Florida School District because of Budget concerns.
According to Police, Duke had been planning the rampage and had been reviewing Anti-Government literature, according to the Associated Press.
But no one was harmed as a result of Duke's gun, in spite of shots fired at stationary Board members.
The District's security person, a former Police Officer, rushed the room. Both men exchanged shots, with Duke deciding to take his own life.
Duke had been previously convicted of aggravated stalking, and received psychological counseling as a condition of his sentencing in 2000.
Video: CNN airs shooting at Florida school board meeting
Mediaite questions both the decision to air the Shooting Spree at a Florida School Board meeting and its reporting of the incident, but haven’t we passed the point of taste several years ago? It’s been at least that long since Cable News networks started breathlessly covering high-speed police chases that have no relation to national news; locally, LA stations carried an infamous bank takeover live while Police Officers got shot more than a decade ago.
As it turns out, while CNN wa...

Florida School Board Shooting: Bravest Thing I Ever Saw
And the dumbest. Here’s some video from the Florida School Board shooting you heard about in the news. I have to say that all of the people aside from the psycho gunman are in the hero phase. You have the one lady who was allowed to leave that went back for her phone presumably to call for help. You have the school board president who handled it fantastically trying to get the gunman to let the others go. But then at around 1:30 into the video you have the bravest thing I’ve seen. I...

Well, I predicted it yesterday, didn’t I? Here’s the video. Of course, the answer is no. The fact is this guy was not supposed to have a gun in the first place. He was a convicted felon. The synopsis of that previous crime was this: In October 1999, Duke threatened to kill a Florida woman, and when she attempted to flee, he used a Handgun to “shoot out the Victim’s rear tire of the vehicle that she was operating.” Duke, wearing a bulletproof ...
