Terrorism : Denmark has arrested< /a> four people plotting an "imminent" terror Attack against against the Jyllands-Posten newspaper, which printed controversial cartoons featuring the Prophet Muhammad, according to Denmark's intelligence service.
Searches carried out after the arrests found a machine gun with a matching silencer, live ammunition and plastic strips that could be used as handcuffs.
The arrests were made in apartments on the outskirts of Copenhagen.
Jakob Scharf, head of the intelligence service, said the four planned to enter the Newspapers building and kill as many people as possible.
He called the group "Militant Islamists." Police in Sweden arrested a fifth man allegedly connected to the plot.
Scharf said the intelligence service has been monitoring the group for some time now. "We have been following them very closely until the arrests made today. We believe that the situation has been under control, but we also found it was necessary to intervene now in order to prevent a specific Attack in Copenhagen," he said.
