Rep. Michele Bachmann, a Minnesota Republican who once said God told her to run for Congress, is planning a Speech in her native Iowa later this month, fueling speculation she will run in 2012. On Wednesday, Bachmann spokesman Sergio Gor confirmed an ABC News report of the congresswoman's potential White House aspirations. "Nothing is off the table," Gor told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Bachmann's chief o...
Now even Michele Bachman is talking about a White House run
Add U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann to the list of potential Republican presidential hopefuls, as the Tea Party favorite plans a trip later this month to the early Caucus state of Iowa — and creates possible complications for fellow Minnesotan and maybe-candidate Tim Pawlenty. “Nothing’s off the table for her,” Andy Parrish, Bachmann’s Chief of Staff, said Wednesday. “She’s looking forward to traveling to Iowa for the Fundraiser, and you know, she’s loo...
Dear Media: Michele Bachmann Is Not Presidential
Yes, Michele Bachmann has won election to more national offices than Sarah Palin, but the media furor over non-comments by the Minnesota Congresswoman about whether or not she plans on running for the Republican Presidential nomination in 2012 are patently absurd. Here's why:
Michele Bachmann is similar to Fox News commentator Sarah Palin in that both are Tea Party favorites, are women and are popular among certain groups, according to Christian Science Monitor. But here's the big problem: Bachmann doesn
Michele Bachmann to Run for President?
By T. CHRISTOPHER, Republican Redefined
Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann may be flirting with the idea of seeking the Republican nomination to challenge Barack Obama in 2012 for the White House according to ABC News. While many had been speculating that she was weighing the possibility of a run at the Senate, it appears she may have her sights set on a more important gig. According to the ABC report, Bachmann has about $3million in her campaign war chest left over from her re-election...
Michele Bachmann: Debt charts show 'future under' President Obama grim
"We cannot afford a Second Term for Barack Obama," armed with enough charts to make her Ross Perot protege showing what would happen if the Debt scenario set by President Obama continues. By Bachmann's account, charts included, America's future looks grim if the level of Debt accumulation doesn't cease. Bachmann gave Greta Van Susteren's questions about whether she would run for president in 2012 short shrift, shrugging them off with a quick retort that it would be boring to spend the next...
Michele Bachmann 2012? Yes, she can!
By Michael J.W. Stickings
Run, Michele, run! Run like the wind!
As ABC News is reporting (and see also her local Star Tribune):
Forget the fervent chatter speculating that Tea Party favorite Rep. Michele Bachmann is considering launching a campaign to challenge Sen. Amy Klobuchar for the Minnesota U.S. Senate seat in the next national election cycle. Think bigger.
ABC News has learned that Bachmann, R-Minn., also is ser...
Pawlenty not afraid of Palin
(CNN) - As he gets closer to officially deciding on a White House run, likely Presidential Candidate Tim Pawlenty is heaping praise on one potential rival in particular - Sarah Palin. But the former Minnesota Governor quickly adds he's not afraid of a candidacy from the GOP rock star - even though Palin's name recognition far surpasses his own. "I don't think it's fair to say people are afraid of her," he told ABC's Nightline in an interview that aired Friday. "It's fair to say she is som...

Paul Abrams: On the Debt Ceiling, Silence is Golden: Let Wall Street Battle the Tea Party.
When asked about the Debt ceiling, the President and the Treasury should simply state that the United States of America will pay its debts, now and in the future. Always. Period. When asked again, repeat the above.
And, the Senate should pass a typical Debt ceiling increase quickly and send it to the House. Remember all that certainty stuff that business craves to create jobs that was a reason to extend the Bush Tax Cuts for the wealthy?
Then, sit back and let Wall Street Lobbyists do battle w...
APNewsBreak: Pawlenty memoir highlights faith
ST. PAUL, Minn. —
Republican Tim Pawlenty, trying to carve out a national identity as he tilts toward a Presidential Campaign, sculpts an image as a faith-based politician in a memoir infused with Bible verses and the flavor of his blue-collar upbringing.
The former Minnesota Governor is out with "Courage to Stand: An American Story," a 301-page Autobiography that concludes with a stinging critique of President Barack Obama and a glimpse at what can be viewed as a 2012 platform.
"If I ca...
Gearing for a delusional 2010
By Greg Prince
Delusions of adequacy, no other way to explain it.
With the newly sworn Congress barely in session we are well into the horserace leading up to the 2012 Presidential Election. Chronologically we’re entering the third year or “autumn” of the cycle and appropriately the nuts are starting to fall from the trees.
Thus far the Obama Administration has governed differently than Candidate Obama campaigned, frustrating Progressives and liberals and compromising away hoped for poli
Historic Reading Of Constitution Sees Conflict
WASHINGTON — Republicans made history Thursday by staging the first-ever reading of the entire Constitution on the House floor. But that record may come with an asterisk: Democrats asked why original sections that later were amended, including references to slaves, were left out of the recital, and lawmakers initially did not catch that a couple of key paragraphs were omitted when two pages got stuck together.
Disputes and glitches aside, Republican and Democratic lawmakers silenced thei...
Michele Bachmann: Were Going to Repeal Barack Obama as President of the United States in 2012 Video 1/6/11
In a debate with Democrat Anthony Weiner , GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann said American voters are “going to Repeal Barack Obama as President of the United States” in 2012, just as Americans “repealed Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House” in the 2010 Midterm Elections.

Pawlenty on possible Bachamnn prez bid: Its a free country
On Wednesday morning, Gov. Mark Dayton signed an Executive Order allowing Minnesota to accept early Medicaid funding under the Affordable Care Act amid hundreds of Tea Party Protesters at the Capitol. As the Tea Party booed Dayton, he handed over the microphone and allowed opponents to have their say. Among those speaking was Jake McMillian of Bradlee Dean’s Controversial hard rock ministry You Can Run But You Cannot Hide. According to ABC News, Rep. Michele Bachmann is mulling a run for ...
Dont Underestimate Michelle Bachmann
While her fledgling presidential run is being greeted by snickering and catcalls from the peanut gallery on both sides of the political spectrum, I believe that it is a huge mistake to “misunderestimate” the congresswoman from Minnesota. Given the tenor of the current political environment, and given the personal and political strengths that Rep. Bachmann brings to the table, it seems to me that Ms. Bachmann may be walking into a nomination contest that was tailor made for a candid...
Is Michele Bachmann the new Sarah Palin?
Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann sounds just like Sarah Palin did months ago, issuing non-denials to queries about a potential 2012 presidential run. Is she keeping her options open?...

Michele Bachmann Not Doing Much To Dispel Rumors About Presidential Run
There are rumors flying that Rep. Michele Bachmann, perhaps second to only Sarah Palin in terms of being hated by the left, may be considering a Presidential run. Interviewed by Greta Van Susteren last night, Bachmann certainly wasn’t ruling out a run: I’m very committed to doing whatever I can to make sure that we don’t have a Second Term for President Obama. So I’m going to add my voice to that conversation in the next two years. . . . [I]t’s not about my personal...

FEEL THE MITCHMENTUM!
It may surprise you, but I actually think this, from Balloon Juice's DougJ, is rather plausible:
Now that Lady Starburst has been deemed insufficiently serious to lead the Party of Lincoln, it's pretty clear that we're in for another GOP daddy as the presidential nominee in 2012. I believe it will be either Hunky Prairie Daddy John Thune or Folksy Fiscal Daddy Mitch Daniels.
I do think Palin is wounded, maybe not fatally but certainly seriously, and no, despite what I wrot...
Poll: Romney starts with big lead in New Hampshire
A new poll shows former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is the early frontrunner in New Hampshire, where he holds a commanding 23-point edge over his closest potential rival -- former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
The New Hampshire Journal poll, conducted by the Republican firm Magellan Strategies, found Romney comfortably at the head of the pack of rumored 2012 hopefuls with 39 percent of the vote.
He's followed by Palin at 16 percent, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee at 10 percent, former
Report: Rudy may run again
Rudy Giuliani is gearing up for another run at the White House, according to a report Friday.
The former New York City mayor, whose 2008 Presidential Campaign flopped, is said to be confident about his chances and is huddling with his advisers and planning to make visits to key states as he weighs a decision, The New York Post reports.

Abbreviated Pundit Round-up
Friday opinion and... wait - is that snow?
Paul Krugman:
These are tough times for State Governments. Huge Deficits loom almost everywhere, from California to New York, from New Jersey to Texas.
Wait — Texas? Wasn’t Texas supposed to be thriving even as the rest of America suffered? Didn’t its Governor declare, during his re-election campaign, that "we have billions in surplus"? Yes, it was, and yes, he did. But reality has now intruded, in the form of a deficit expected to r...
Here's The Real Reason Obama Is All Of The Sudden Going "Pro Business" (JPM, C, CAT, BA)
Email Sent! You have successfully emailed the post. Larry Kudlow-style Republicans are seemingly over The Moon about the new "pro-business" attitude at the White House, and the apparent morphing of Obamanomics into Reaganomics. And indeed, the lame-duck Tax Cut deal coupled with the appointment of guys like BIll Daley and Gene Sperling to important posts do indicate some kind of return of Clintonism (though in our opinion, the radical Leftism of the first two years of the administration was alw...
Reps. Michele Bachmann And Anthony Weiner Face Off On Foxs Hannity
Rep. Anthony Weiner clearly enjoys a fight, even if it’s two-on-one. The New York Democrat knowingly agreed to be part of the “Face Off” segment on Fox’s Hannity Thursday night, in a debate over Debt, spending, and repealing the Obama healthcare plan with Rep. Michele Bachmann and Sean Hannity.
The result? A bruising, highly entertaining debate that included Hannity at one point exclaiming, “oh, poor Anthony Weiner!”
Weiner hints he might vote against raising...
Barney Frank vows to defend law from Tea Party, GOP
U.S. Rep. Barney Frank is going after yet another Republican who has vowed to dismantle his landmark financial-reform law.
The latest target of the Newton Democrat’s wrath is Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), a Tea Party favorite who’s now pushing to eliminate the sweeping Dodd-Frank reform Legislation that was passed last year while Democrats still controlled the House.
Republicans, who made big gains in the November Elections, are now in charge of the House - and they’re wast...
But of course

I admit, I didn’t watch the “reading” of 3/5ths or so of the Constitution yesterday, as I was busy doing more exciting things, like not watching people read the Constitution. But considering their self-proclaimed advocacy of the project one might have been surprised to learn:
Did anyone else notice that GOP Reps. Michele Bachmann and Steve King — both Tea Party chieftains who routinely wrap themselves and their policy preferences in the Con...
